Welcoming Pheasant Hunting Opener, Kennedy Stresses Importance of Wetlands Loan Act

St. Paul, Minnnesota, Oct 14 - U.S. Senate candidate Mark Kennedy released the following statement on today's Pheasant Hunting Opener to talk about the work he's done to preserve our wetlands:

"As pheasant hunters hit the fields today, I'm happy to have worked closely with them to develop a plan on how we can best deal with the depleted wetlands we've experienced in our state.

"With their input, I authored the Wetlands Loan Act with Democratic Rep. Thompson from California as my lead Co-Sponsor to preserve at today's rate, rather than paying higher prices in 10 years.

"By doubling the amount available to $800 million for the Migratory Bird Trust Fund over the next 10 years, we will help save our wetlands and make sure we have plenty of pheasants in the fields and ducks in the skies for generations to come.

"I'm pleased to have wildlife groups like Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever and the National Wildlife Federation lending me their support for this bill. On the other hand, Amy Klobuchar's support by radical environmental groups like the League of Conservation Voters shows just how out-of-touch she is with thousands of Minnesota hunters."
